These simple shortie mitts came about as an "Introduction to Magic Loop" in-person workshop following on from the Introduction to Circular Needles class. As such, they are designed to match the "In The Round Cowl", using the same BC Garn Hamelton Tweed 2 Chunky GOTS certified organic wool yarn.
The "Magic Loop Mitts" are perfect for a first magic loop on circular needles project but also for anyone wanting a quick and easy knit. Lovely to keep for yourself or dash off as a last minute gift in a day or two.
Gauge is important for yardage. If your gauge is looser you may run out of yarn (and your mitts will end up a little larger than planned). If you do knit looser, just use a smaller needle size (or if you knit tighter, go up a needle size) I've given the gauge before and after wet blocking in the pattern but do bear in mind the before-blocking gauge is specific to this yarn. If you make the pattern again and substitute another yarn, it's the gauge *after* blocking that will count.
Although these are designed as shortie mitts so you can get them out of one 50g ball of yarn, it would be very easy to knit extra rows before and/or after the thumb shaping to extend the length of the mitts further down the wrist and up the length of your fingers. If you would like longer mitts, you will need another ball of yarn. If this is the case, just add two Magic Loop Mitts kits to your basket - either in the same colourway or in a contrast colour if you want to add your own stripes (perhaps to match your In The Round Cowl!).
