Launching the Sunray Shawl Knit-Along

Our next Knit-Along (KAL) is launching in just a couple of weeks on 18th January, and I’m excited to invite you to join us for this gorgeous project, perfect to see you through the cold, dark evenings of winter!

The Pattern: Sunray Shawl by Jule Kebelmann

We’ll be working on the Sunray Shawl, a beautiful design by Jule Kebelmann. The pattern features an interesting stitch texture inspired by the structure of Leporellos (concertina-style fold-out notebooks), resulting in a fabric with an architectural quality. This pattern is especially satisfying because it lets you knit until you’ve used up all your yarn, leaving very little waste.

With a repeated stitch pattern, even those new to the techniques used will soon get into a rhythm and everyone should find this a relaxing knit with enough interest to keep you going.

We have kits available in two size options: 200g (shown in Mustard Yellow above) and a large 400g shawl (shown below in Mazarine Blue). A digital download of the pattern is included with the kit but if you don't have the required needles you'll need to purchase those separately. The suggested needle size is 4.5mm/100cm circular needles (or longer for the large size if you prefer).

The Timeline

The Knit-Along will run from 18th January to 1st March, giving us six weeks to focus on this project together. While many participants enjoy the motivation of a shared deadline, there’s no pressure to finish within the timeframe. The goal is to share the joy of knitting, support one another, and make meaningful progress on a beautiful project.

You’ll receive regular email updates, and we’ll connect through three Zoom calls:

• 18th January: Swatch/Cast-On Party (4:30 pm - 5:30 pm)

• Midpoint Check-In

• Final Wrap-Up

Even after the KAL officially concludes, I’ll still be available to offer support and cheer you on.

The Yarn: Skadi Merino D'Arles by Hey Mama Wolf

As with all our Knit-Alongs, I’ll be creating video tutorials to guide you through every technique in the Sunray Shawl. Whether you’re learning something new or are already confident with the skills involved, these tutorials ensure you’re supported every step of the way.
